Expansion for Elcometer

ELCOMETER, the global testing and inspection equipment manufacturer, is to double the size of its UK production capacity.
Work has started on the £1.2m, 17,200 sq ft extension at the firm’s Openshaw headquarters, including manufacturing and office space, with the appointment of Trafford-based contractor Russells Construction.
It will take the company’s total space to 30,000 sq ft.
Elcometer said the extension will help meet increasing demand, extend its range of coating inspection tools and allow it to develop a new range of ultrasonic thickness gauges. It expects to take on 30 staff over the next three years.
The firm, which was established in 1947, has eight offices across the world, including Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, USA, Singapore and Japan, with additional manufacturing facilities in Belgium and the USA. More than 90% of products manufactured in the UK are exported.
Managing director Michael Sellars said: “In recent years Elcometer has launched a number of new products which have significantly increased the demands on our existing production facility. This expansion will allow Elcometer to meet the growing demand for our test equipment and widen our product portfolio, enabling us to enter new markets over the coming years, and supporting a five-year strategy to double our market share.”
