Lettings latest: St Modwen bags five at Connah’s Quay; Knight Frank scores two at Cheetham Hill

DEVELOPER St Modwen has announced that it has signed a bunch of new retail tenants up to its new £15m development at Connah’s Quay in Flintshire.
Greggs, Bargain Booze, Just Go Travel, Corbett Bookmakers and Barnardos have all signed leases to move into the district shopping scheme known as Quays Shopping Centre.
The development also includes a new 52,000 sq ft Morrisons superstore, 12 new retail units and 325 car parking spaces. Demolition of the town’s old `1970s shopping centre began in June 2009 and the new centre is expected to create around 300 retail jobs once the handover to tenants begins in September.
Paul Batho, project director at St. Modwen, said: “We are piecing together a varied shopping destination which will serve the local community with a range of services. The take-up of the retail units, particularly from national high street brands, demonstrates a new found confidence in the area as a retail centre.”
Cheetham and Mortimer is the letting agent for Connah’s Quay.

Property consultancy Knight Frank has completed two new lettings of industrial properties in the Cheetham Hill area of Manchester.
A 4,945 sq ft industrial unit has been let on behalf of RC Kennedy at Cosiglow House on Derby Street to Golden Products on a five-year lease and a 4,632 sq ft unit has been let on the same road to textiles wholesaler Kooyoo UK.
The firm said that it is also receiving “very strong” interest in a new Broughton Court development consisting of 18 new purpose-built cash and carry units on Broughton Street. The development has just been completed and one of the units is currently under offer. DTZ is joint letting agent for the development.
