Media Mix: New win for Perception; Apps at Corporation Pop and Paver Smith

CHESHIRE travel marketing specialist Perception Sales & Marketing has been appointed to manage a new multi-platform PR campaign by Outlook Expeditions, a youth expedition company based in Bangor, North Wales.

Perception director Cath Couzens said: “This is a very exciting time for Perception and we are delighted to be working with Outlook Expeditions. Staying close to our specialty of travel representation, this new contract allows us to expand further and progress into other fields.”

Cheadle Hulme-based Perception will be handling a national marketing campaign for Outlook and promote a competition to mark its 10th anniversary that will give one school the chance to send 10 pupils on a 10-day trip to Morocco.

MANCHESTER graphic and digital design agency Corporation Pop has created a 3D pinball game for the iPhone, which allows the user to remix Goldfrapp’s music as they play.

The free application – http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/goldfrapp-pinball/id388221551?mt=8 – features samples from Goldfrapp’s latest album, Head First. Corporation Pop is working with the band as part of its ongoing relationship with the record label Mute.

Managing director Dom Raban said: “It’s a great game to play in its own right but the Goldfrapp connection and the ability to remix their music make it really engaging.”

North West PR agency Paver Smith has launched an iPhone application that offers free PR advice to users.

The app provides daily hints, tips and advice on PR and communications issues and is expected to have broad appeal, according to the agency’s managing director Dougal Paver.

“This sort of advice is available on the web from multiple sources but our app puts it all in one place for the first time and is free. The convenience will be a major benefit and it’ll be interesting to see what sort of traction it gains.”

Salford Quays-based technical PR firm IVE Global, has completed a new brochure and website design for AIM Limited, a manufacturer of thermal insulation products for the construction industry which is part of building products group SIG plc.

The firm said its brief is to give AIM Limited a stronger, clearer and more recognisable identity in the marketplace, which it is doing through a new new brochure and website design aimed at product specifiers. It is also embarking on a longer term, brand building strategy.

Louise Matthews, managing director of IVE Global, said: “There is a growing awareness that IVE offers a real point of difference as a technical PR and marketing specialist.”

Smoking Gun PR, the Manchester-based PR agency launched earlier this year by ex-Brazen account director Rick Guttridge, has won two new accounts with local food producers.

The firm has been appointed to handle the PR For Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses and for Bolton-based bakery and retail business Greenghalgh’s Craft Bakery, which is owned by the Smart family. It will promote Bulters’ cheeses following a rebrand and target media coverage during its key
