UKTI hails ‘fantastic response’ to IFB

MORE than 1,000 companies ranging from new start-ups to multinationals have attended UK Trade & Investment events at the International Festival of Business over the last three weeks.

Since the Prime Minister launched the business showcase in Liverpool on June 9, companies keen to grow their export business have flocked to attend the series of market and sector-led events and to benefit from one-to-one sessions with experts and also meet potential customers.

The government body leading the UK’s export drive, is a major supporter of IFB 2014.

As well as passing the 1,000 milestone, UKTI said companies had met buyers and experts from over 50 countries, and that more than  500 one-to-one meetings have taken place so far.

Clive Drinkwater, UKTI’s regional director said the response to IFB has so far been “fantastic”.

“Our events have covered markets from Ethiopia to Egypt, and from Slovakia to Singapore, with plenty more to come in the next three weeks.

“I have moved my office to Liverpool for the duration of the festival, and seen plenty of enthusiastic delegates meeting experts from all over the world.  I am sure that plenty of business is being done.”

Companies are urged to sign up for IFB and register for remaining events while places are still available.

Mr Drinkwater added: “If you haven’t signed up for the International Festival of Business or visited the Hub you are missing out on a world of opportunity

“We are only half way through the Festival and further UKTI events are coming up on India, China and Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea as well events covering international opportunities in the food & drink, business & professional services and creative & digital Sectors.”
