MANCHESTER-based Inventive IT, which was set up by the former head of software development at holiday giant MyTravel, has been acquired by an Australian business.

Inventive specialises in developing bespoke software systems for travel companies looking after everything from data warehousing and revenue management to building websites and social networking applications.

Clients include Manchester Airport Group, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Jet2 and LateRooms.com.

John Charnock set up the business with two former colleagues, Rory Powers and David Mathews. Now it has been taken on by payment solutions firm Advam.

Mr Charnock said: “Inventive IT has seen excellent growth over the last few years but we need to build upon these foundations so that we can scale and sustain growth.”

Inventive was advised by Manchester law firm Turner Parkinson’s Stephen Hadlow and Robin Hastings. Mr Hadlow said: “We have worked with John and his team from Inventive’s early beginnings, so it is particularly pleasing to mark that journey with the exit. The current management team will remain operationally central to the business, and, with the support of Advam, Inventive is now primed to continue its impressive growth strategy in the UK and overseas.”

The value of the deal was not disclosed. Inventive has 25 staff in the UK and 15 overseas.
