CPUK looks to create landmark housing project

NORTH West-based builder Construction Partnership UK (CPUK) has started work on an £8.5m affordable homes scheme in the heart of a Lancashire seaside town.
The Globe Drive development in Morecambe – near the town’s football ground – will create 52 new houses, eight bungalows and 30 apartments.
The homes are being constructed by CPUK’s new specialised social housing division CPUK Affordable Living. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2017.
The project is being developed by Chorley Community Housing, part of the Adactus Housing Group, in partnership with CPUK, Cheshire-based Lane End Developments (UK) Limited and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) which has contributed £3.2m of funding.
CPUK is now working on social and affordable housing projects across the North West of England as it continues its ambitious expansion plans.
It has created a new division called CPUK Affordable Living which specialises in social housing and works in partnership with Lane End Developments to offer turnkey solutions to housing associations.
The new division’s ambition is to provide more than 300 new homes in the social housing sector every year.
Cheshire-based Lane End Developments (UK) Ltd sources land and delivers high quality developments for registered housing providers.
CPUK Affordable Living, which began operations earlier this year, constructs the schemes for the housing association, delivering projects on time and to budget.
CPUK Managing Director Steve Burke said: “We’re delighted to be working on the Globe Drive development in Morecambe which is creating much-needed affordable homes for the community.
“It is the latest project to have come out of our strategic alliance with Lane End Developments (UK) Limited, which is already beginning to provide quality new build solutions to many of the key housing associations in the North West.
“We’ve got ambitious plans for the new division. It will play a strong role in our continued development and open the door to more new opportunities for us. The project in Morecambe highlights just what we can achieve in this growing sector.”
Other consultants involved in the delivery of the scheme include Paddock Johnson Architects, Bell Munro Consulting Engineers and employers’ agent Markhams.
The Morecambe project is the largest single scheme to be developed by Adactus. It is fully supported by Lancaster City Council because of the significant contribution it will make in increasing the availability of affordable housing in a central location in the town.
Karen Lee, Project Manager at Adactus, said: “We are excited to be working in partnership with Lancaster City Council and the HCA on the delivery of such a high profile scheme. Globe Drive will provide much needed quality new homes in Morecambe.”
Richard Harrison, managing director of Lane End Developments, added: “The scheme is an exciting development for the area and a testament to the team involved in getting it to this stage. The fresh, innovative design is a welcomed addition to the community.”
