People: Sandy Lindsay; Mitchell Charlesworth & more

TANGERINE PR founder Sandy Lindsay MBE,  is to join the North West Business Leadership Team, an independent group of influential business leaders who work together to promote the sustainable economic development and long-term well-being of the region.

Membership is by invitation only and is made up of approximately 30 senior executives from the region’s major businesses. It operates as an independent business voice for the North West, providing valuable strategic support and influencing policy. Members include executives from Bruntwood, EY,  Manchester Airports Group, BAE Systems, KPMG, United Utilities and Virgin Trains.

Geoffrey Piper, chief executive of the leadership team said: “I’ve known Sandy and Tangerine since the company’s launch back in 2002 and have always admired the way she runs her business and plays a part in the wider regional dialogue.

“Sandy’s recent success with The Juice Academy apprenticeship and her leadership of the Institute of Directors’ Skills Group fit perfectly with one of our key issues of major concern for the North West, namely the massive skills gaps that need addressing if we’re to maximise on the huge opportunities we have as a region.”

ACCOUNTANCY firm Mitchell Charlesworth has announced three promotions across its audit and advisory teams.

Mike Buxton and Adam McGowan who are based at firm’s Liverpool office have become partners. Meanwhile, Warrington-based Paul Richards has been promoted to associate.

McGowan joined Mitchell Charlesworth in 1998 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2005. During his time at the practice he has progressed through the accounts and audit department as well as gaining invaluable experience assisting SMEs in a variety of sectors.

Buxton became audit manager in 2010 after joining Mitchell Charlesworth as a trainee in 1999 and qualified in 2005.

Both were promoted to associates in November 2013 and following the merger with Kemp and Co accountants in July 2015, have been heavily involved in the integration of the two businesses and their clients.

UHY Hacker Young Manchester has appointed Paul Dobson to its specialist automotive team. With a growing national team already in place, Dobson brings significant experience and expertise to the firm and joins from ASE plc, a rival consultancy,  where he spent 14 years.

2015 has been an extremely successful year for the UHY team, having successfully been involved in over 40% of automotive transactions in the UK, most recently the sale of Wokingham Motors and the acquisition of Who’s Ace Holdings  by Vertu Motors.

The appointment reunites Dobsone with David Kendrick and Paul Daly with whom he worked at ASE.

Dobson said: “I am delighted to be back working with my ex-colleagues and believe that the UHY team offers something unique and different in the market place. After specialising in the sector for over 14 years I am excited by the new challenge and opportunities ahead.”
