Furniture chain moves on to retail park

OAK Furniture Land taken 10,665sq ft of space at White City Retail Park at Trafford in Manchester after signing a deal with The Derwent Group.

The retailer has penned a 10-year lease and opened its doors at the weekend.
Oak Furniture Land follows several recent major retailers to secure a unit such as Home Bargains, Costa Drive Thru, and M&S Foodhall.

White City is already home to Currys, Dreams, Furniture Village, Halfords, Sofology and SCS, and continues to attract further strong interest from tenants.

The park has undergone major redevelopment, in the form of a £10m transformation led and managed by The Derwent Group, with the firm making significant investments in its many other retail portfolios across the North West.

James Maule-Ffinch, senior asset manager at The Derwent Group said: “Oak Furniture Land is the latest of a number of major retailers that have already committed to securing their places at White City Retail Park.

“With the arrival of Costa and M&S Foodhall, the mix of tenants is diversifying and the retail park is expected to become a major retail destination for people across Manchester with excellent accessibility and some very popular brands.

“It’s a really exciting time for White City which has gone from strength to strength since its recent redevelopment.”

The transformation of the retail park will culminate in 210,570sq ft of retail space and 658 free car parking spaces, in addition to creating hundreds of jobs for surrounding communities.

Joint agents for White City Retail Park are Cheetham & Mortimer and CSP (Curson Sowerby).
