Mason crowned entrepreneur of the year

SALFORD businessman Ged Mason was crowned EY Entrepreneur Of The Year UK 2016 Master at a national awards ceremony last night.

His company Morson Group has been providing an engineering recruitment service since its inception in 1969.

The group also provides engineering and design solutions to major capital projects using the latest technology and systems.

Originally set up by his father, Gerry Mason, he has been involved in the company from an early age, taking on the Group CEO role for Morson Group in 2005.

This year, Mason received an OBE for his services to engineering and design in the 2016 New Year’s Honour list.

Victoria Price, EY’s north entrepreneur of the year leader, said: “Impressive profit growth combined with a clear strategy to diversify and innovate to stay ahead of the market particularly impressed the judges. Ged also showed real resilience when faced with adversity.

“Legacy is important to him and building on the work of his late father Gerry Mason really matters to him. He is a well-deserved winner.”
