Enterprise regains £100m water contract

PRESTON-based utilities giant Enterprise plc has announced that it has regained a maintenance contract with Severn Trent Water (STW) worth around £20m a year.

The contract covers Severn Trent’s Western region and involves all repair and maintenance work as well as other asset management activities. It runs until 2015, with an option to extend for a further five years.

It also includes a provision for supplying private drain and sewer network maintenance – an extra area of operation which the firm said would help Enterprise to fulfil new obligations once the new water industry regulation regime kicks in from October next year.

Neil Kirkby, Enterprise’s group chief executive said: “This contract renewal is one of a number recently awarded to Enterprise by STW.

“We have worked in partnership with STW since 1998 and have made a significant contribution to the many operational improvements achieved by the joint teams.

“We look forward to working with STW over the next five years to drive lower costs, improve efficiency and improve levels of customer satisfaction, through the use of our bespoke IT systems and the strength of our presence in the Midlands area.”
