Marsh on the march at E&Y

FORMER army officer and professional rugby player Nathan Marsh  has been promoted to director in Ernst & Young’s North West advisory team.

Mr Marsh, 37, who spent seven years in the Welsh Guards and served in the Balkans and Northern Ireland, joined E&Y as a manager three years ago. Prior to his army career he played rugby union for Birmingham club Moseley.

Mr Marsh will work closely with partner Stephen Church, who was recruited from Deloitte last year to double the size of the advisory business in the North West over the next three years

An expert in public sector advisory, he is already playing a key role in the formation of the new Local Enterprise Partnerships in the region.

Advisory partner, Stephen Church, at Ernst & Young said: “Nathan’s appointment is key to our growth plans. We aim to add people at every level, from graduates through to partners.

“By 2012, we hope to have more than doubled the size of the team to 60, led by three partners and four directors throughout the North West.”

Mr Marsh said: “Organisations have largely stripped out obvious costs and are now looking deeper to prepare for growth. There is a huge demand locally, which will help to fuel the growth of the practice in the next three years.”

After the army Mr Marsh, who lives in Cheshire, worked for Aon as a programme director on a two year McKinsey change programme.
