Arley submits plans for 135-home development in Chorley

WARRINGTON-based housebuilder Arley Homes has submitted plans for 135 new family homes in Chorley after purchasing an 11.7-acre site from United Utilities.

The sale of the site will allow the derelict land at Duxbury Park to be brought back into use. It already already had outline planning permission for 200 homes and was previously home to a United Utilities conference and training centre that was demolished earlier this year.

Arley was brought in as preferred developer for the site following an open tender process organised by United Utilities. The plans it has submitted for the borough council are for 135 two, three, four and five bedroom family homes, plus green open spaces and a children’s play area, linked by a network of pedestrian pathways.

Arley said that it has reduced the density of the properties planned for the site to create more of an attractive, landscaped development with more generous gardens, larger homes and a children’s play area.

The orientation of some of the houses on the northern edge of the site have also changed to reduce the impact on neighbouring residents.

John Cosgrave, managing director for Arley Homes, said: “We pride ourselves on providing classic, traditional family homes, built with a craftsmanship and attention to detail that makes our homes aesthetically pleasing both inside and out and the build quality of Arley properties mean our developments regularly win accolades from the National House Building Council.

“We also choose our sites carefully, and have found Chorley to be a very popular location as it offers all the benefits of semi-rural living, with great transport links and the shops and amenities of a big town.”
