Nine Lives strikes distribution deal

MANCHESTER-based, independent production company Nine Lives Media has secured a ‘first look’ deal with one of the biggest distributors in the country, Zodiak Rights.

Under the terms of the deal Zodiak, the merged rights divisions of RDF Media Group and Zodiak Entertainment, will invest in production development at the firm over a two-year term.

It follows success Zodiak has had in recent years with international sales of Nine Lives’ programmes such as, The World’s Oldest Conjoined Twins and The World’s Strongest Toddler.

Cat Lewis, Nine Lives’ managing director, said: “To be chosen as one of the companies that Zodiak Rights work with on a ‘first look’ basis is incredibly exciting and demonstrates the faith they have in our ability to deliver high quality documentaries.

“This deal will allow us to invest more funds in developing even more programmes for the future. I’m extremely proud of the programmes that we make and hope that our closer relationship with Zodiak Rights means that they will reach an even bigger audience around the world.”

Jane Millichip, Zodiak’s managing director, said: “We are delighted with the deal. Nine Lives consistently deliver high-quality, powerful programmes, such as Small Teen, Big World for BBC3, that combine intimate storytelling with universal themes – perfect documentaries for the international market.”
