General Physics bags second deal in five weeks
GENERAL Physics UK, the Stockport-based training & consultancy firm which is part of US-based General Physics Corporation, has completed its second acquisition in five weeks.
It has bought Plymouth-based Academy of Training, which employs 38 staff and provides apprenticeships and NVQ programmes, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal follows last month’s acquisition of competitor firm Bath Consultancy Group.
Shay Moran, managing director of General Physics (GP), said the acquisition would increase the amount of business the firm wins from the Skills Funding Agency.
“Academy of Training was targeted by GP as an acquisition as it met all our strategic expectations from any Government-funded provider.”
Cobbetts’ Manchester corporate team advised the firm on the deal led by corporate partner Ian Riggs who was assisted by Jonathan Gillow and Brian Ghatan.
Mr Riggs, pictured, said: “Academy of Training is a growing business whose proposition compliments GP’s services across the training spectrum. The deal further boosts GP’s market coverage and will allow Academy of Training to take advantage of new domestic and overseas opportunities. We were delighted to advise on the deal.”
