Warrington-based Mr Cassidy, chairman of the landlord In House, has raised money through another company to distribute a skin cream called Kimia which is said to be used by celebrities like Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss.

His Plus-listed company The Brandsco has bought £25,000 of stock from Natural Healing, the Rossendale, Lancashire-based manufacturer of Kimia and other skincare products.

It has a three-year non-exclusive distribution deal in the UK but Mr Cassidy said he would work towards exclusivity.

He said: “Many celebrities have tried the product and without paying them for endorsement or advertising they are coming out and commenting on the products unique effectiveness and we believe that the product range will be one of the most successful new skin care ranges in Europe within the next few years.”

The Brandsco has also applied to issue 15 million new ordinary shares taking the company’s total share capital to 265 million shares.

Mr Cassidy made the headlines last month after Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman Vince Cable cited a loan by the failed building society Dunfermline to In House group as an example of reckless lending. At the time Mr Cassidy said Mr Cable’s information was incorrect.
