Proventec agrees wood treatment distribution deal

STEAM cleaning and coatings group Proventec today announced a distribution agreement for its fire retardant products though subsidiary Magma Industries.

The Liverpool-based company has signed the exclusive agreement for the distribution of fire retardant products for the pressure treatment of timber with Dr Wolman GmbH, a BASF subsidiary which supplies wood preservatives and fire protection products.

Under the agreement, Magma’s Firestop pressure treatment product for timber will be distributed by Wolman throughout Europe, except in Benelux which will be directly supplied by Magma.

Proventec said Wolman has a strong specialist sales team and established relationships with most of the timber treatment plants in Europe.

David Chestnutt, chief executive of Proventec, said: “We are delighted to be entering this partnership, Wolman’s reputation and extensive sales network in the timber treatment industry will dramatically expand the awareness and use of Magma’s fire retardant products.”

The company also said that Michel Bol, Magma’s business development director, has been appointed to the board of Fireretard.com, the European industry association for fire retardant wood based materials.
