Clock ticking for IoD awards entries

THE Institute of Directors in the North West today warned last-minute entrants for its popular Director of the Year awards that that have until Friday to apply.

In it’s sixth year, the Director of the Year Awards are designed to highlight the successes of those who have defied the odds in tough market conditions, and prove that tit’s not all doom and gloom.

The IoD is urging its members and the region’s business leaders to use the last few days before the deadline to nominate the rising business talent of Lancashire, Cheshire, Manchester, Liverpool and Cumbria.

Regional director Darrell Matthews, said: “Nominations for this year’s awards are already very strong and this is so encouraging after what has been an incredibly tough year for the North West economy.

“Despite the gloom, there are still some rays of light and plenty of hope for the future of enterprise in this region, and a lot of this is being driven by the young up-and-coming directors who are carving their own niche in the North West.

“There are lots of talented individuals who are continuing to succeed in the economy of 2009, and it is important that we celebrate their achievements. Highlighting the success of others is an excellent way to encourage recovery and growth in our region – all business leaders should think hard and nominate someone who is leading the way out of recession.”

Winners at last year’s event included Steve Corcoran of Speedy Hire, Peter Barton of Forge Europa,  Imran Hakim of iTeddy, and Jeremy Gorick of Liquid Plastics.

Nominations are open until Friday, and can be easily made online at www.armstrongcraven.co.uk/iod

The categories are split into Director of the Year and Young Director of the Year for each of the IoD Branches in the North West, including Cheshire, Lancashire, Cumbria, Manchester and Liverpool, with an overall award capping off the ceremony.

The high profile awards will take place at the Manchester Hilton on 7th October 2009.
