Stewart Milne acquires Tarporley site

ABERDEEN-based construction firm Stewart Milne Homes has acquired a development site in Cheshire with planning for 33 homes.

It bought the site for an undisclosed sum from Surrey-based GB Development Solutions which secured planning for the three to five-bed homes in a four-acre field off Utkinton Road, Tarporley, last year.

According to council documents planning officers believed the new scheme would help address housing demand in the area.

But parish councils expressed concern and Cheshire West and Chester Council received 35 comments complaining about the loss of open space, bad “Georgian pastiche” house designs and the size of the scheme.

Stewart Milne’s senior land manager Stephen Daintith said: “This is an important acquisition for Stewart Milne Homes and we are looking forward to making a start on the new development. We are committed to providing a high quality development which we are confident will complement the existing surroundings and enhance the local community.”

Manchester-based HOW Planning advised GB Development Solutions which is a subsidiary of the Sunbury-based construction firm GB Group Holdings.
