System Training spends £1m on new facilities

HGV driver instruction firm System Training is investing £1m on improvements at its Carlisle headquarters.

The firm said the changes will allow it to deliver more apprenticeships and double the number of learners it can accommodate.

Story Construction is adding seven new teaching classrooms, four offices, a canteen and expanding the existing practical training bays at the firm’s bases at Carlisle Airport Business Park.

In August the business merged with Leeds-based Hargreaves Training Services giving it 300 employees and 12 national sites.

Chief executive Robin Brown said: “It’s a very exciting time for the new business. System Training has grown from its base in Carlisle to be the largest logistics training provider in the UK and it’s great that we are now able to invest in our Carlisle site to secure work and employment in the area.

“We are committed to help strengthen the region’s economy by using apprenticeships to train and create jobs for young people. We are also delivering driver training to many haulage and logistics companies in the region to help them reduce operating costs and remain viable and more profitable.”
