Spark Impact opens Liverpool office

SPARK Impact, the London-based fund manger chosen to run the £25m Biomedical pot of the new £185m Northwest Fund, has opened a new office at Liverpool Science Park.

The firm’s new office is based at the Science Park’s innovation centre 1 building at Mount Pleasant and is already receiving applications for funding.

It is estimated that around 40% of the £5m fund will be spent on Merseyside businesses.

The life sciences sector already employs around 4,000 people in the area.
Spark Impact is part of the Spark Ventures plc, which has been operating for 12 years as a specialist in early-stage venture capital funding for healthcare businesses. It currently manages around £190m worth of  investment funds.

Penny Attridge, investment director at Spark Impact and manager of the fund for the Liverpool region, said: “We have opened one permanent office in Liverpool Science Park because it is a dynamic facility located in the heart of Liverpool city centre, making it easily accessible to the whole of Merseyside.

“In addition to this, we have hot desking facilities and meeting room use at key locations around the Northwest.”
