Couple invest in words of God

A LANCASHIRE bookshop business which specialises in the sale of religious books has changed hands.
Husband and wife team Nigel and Kath Cope have bought the Christian Book Centre, which trades from shops in Preston and Lancaster, supported by a six-figure loan from NatWest.
They acquired the business from previous owner Bob Hardman after he moved to Cornwall.
Founded in Preston 40 years ago, the Christian Book Centre sells books, CDs and DVDs. It employs 10 staff.
Mr Cope was previously an operations manager with industrial gas group BOC until he was made redundant earlier this year. Mrs Cope will combine an existing office manager’s job with working part-time in the business.
Mr Cope said: “We are delighted to have bought the Christian Book Centre and will relish the opportunity to run our own business. Kath and I had known Bob for several years and were aware of the good job he did to build the business. We are confident the business will continue to be successful under our guidance and look forward to welcoming both existing and new customers.”
