Aquarius launches fund raising roadshow
VENTURE capital firm Aquarius Equity Partners officially launched its new £7.5m fund last night at Manchester’s Lowry Hotel.
The first of five events, the Aquarius team will be showcasing The Aquarius Origin Fund to investors and the professional community across the UK in the coming months.
The fund will invest in early stage, high-growth potential companies across the north of England, making equity investments of up to £750,000.
The fund allows private individuals to invest directly or via their SIPP, giving tax benefits.
Chairman Steve Sealey said: “We have already received significant funding commitments from some of the region’s most successful entrepreneurs.”
He added: “The launch of our new fund is timely especially in view of the Chancellor’s recent reforms whereby he will abolish higher rate income tax relief from 2011/12 for higher earners.
“Right now, it has never been more important to look at the historical returns of your SIPP and have a strategy for its future performance. We believe that within every individual SIPP, some portion of its of its value should be invested in venture capital, and it is for this reason we have developed the Aquarius Origin Fund.”
