Hong Kong and China trade in focus

NORTH West businesses and SMEs have a chance to explore the Far East markets of Hong Kong and China in a free seminar this week.

The event on Thursday lunch time , hosted by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, will offer expert knowledge and advice about these strategically important markets for the region’s importers, exporters and service providers.

HKTDC offers a complete advisory service to UK companies seeking to begin or improve trading with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) and the vast markets of mainland China.

The seminar – at the Bridgewater Hall features a series of short presentations from those who have first-hand knowledge of the key HK and China markets.

David Marsden, HKTDC director for the UK said: “There are long established links between the North West and Hong Kong, with two-way trade in sectors such as engineering, retailing, logisitics, garments, toys, giftware and services.

“We are keen to build on existing ties between our respective economies, and look forward to welcoming new companies to this lunchtime briefing.”

Speakers include: Agnes Allcock, director general of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office; Brian Woolly, MD of Chase International’s contract services division; Adela Liew, principal consultant with Invest HK, Josh Wong, China partner with law firm DLA Piper and Philomena Chen, head of China Pacific development with UKTI North West.
