Ribble hotel in £300k revamp

A LANCASHIRE hotel has secured a six-figure funding deal to revamp its bedrooms and leisure club as it gears up for a bumper summer season.
Stirk House Hotel, which overlooks the Ribble Valley in Clitheroe, is undergoing extensive renovations and is hoping to turnover £1.2m this year as the weak pound and predicted dry summer is prompting many Brits to holiday at home.
The 26-bedroom hotel is run by father and daughter team Paul Caddy and Helen Kay who own parent company Lidun Group which also includes the White Swan Hotel in Halifax.
The pair secured the £300,000 loan from Lloyds TSB Commercial and hope the refurbishment will add extra staff to the hotel’s 30-strong workforce.
Helen said: “Completing the refurbishment of the Stirk House Hotel is important to secure the future growth of the business. These refurbishments will make certain that we continue to deliver the highest standards of accommodation.”
David Gooch, relationship director at Lloyds TSB Commercial, added: “By presenting a detailed business plan that outlined a solid growth strategy, Helen and Paul were able to secure lending to support their long-term expansion plans.”
