Aintree hospital trust seeks contractor for £20m upgrade

AINTREE University Hospitals NHS Trust has issued a tender for contractors to bid for a package of improvement works to its main hospital site worth up to £25m.

The Trust is looking for contractors to complete a package of works which will include an extension and reconfiguration of the existing hospital and an upgrade of its transport infrastructure to cope with the increase in capacity an upgrade will provide.

The departments expected to be included in the works include the fracture clinic, operating theatres, A&E areas, critical care and its cardiology unit.

A design brief has also been published for the new £19m building which is set to house the Cornerhouse and Library Theatre company at the northern end of Ask Developments’ £19m First Street site in Manchester.

Manchester City Council is looking for a design team to build the facility which needs to incorporate up to five cinemas, gallery spaces, a 500-seat theature and some studio and ecucation spaces. The council estimates that the 50,000 sq ft building will cost £14m to build and will llink to a proposed outdoor performance space by railway Arches fronting Whitworth Street.
