News in Brief: RBS backs baker; Bertram signs with Peel and Ultralase at 20

AN independent bakery business based in Thornton Cleveleys has relocated to new premises in Blackpool after securing a £100,000 loan from The Royal Bank of Scotland.
Norbreck Bakery has moved to Topping Street in Blackpool town centre and been renamed Topping St Bakery.
Partner Mark Jones, a baker with 34 years experience in the trade, established the firm in 1987. He has now bought his own premises and invested £40,000.
He said: “This is a very exciting venture and we are delighted to open in the centre of Blackpool. It’s a great location at the heart of the town centre and close to the main shopping areas. We are confident the location will be a great benefit to the business and look forward to welcoming our first customers.”

PEEL Group has signed up Bertram Nursery Group to run a day nursery at its Princes Dock scheme in Liverpool city centre.
The nursery, will occupy more than 10,000 sq ft of space on the ground floor of Building 4 next to the Malmaison Hotel.
Bertram Nursery Group operates 31 nurseries in Scotland and across the north.

LASER eye surgery firm Ultralase is celebrating 20 years in business.
The firm, which is headquartered in Leeds, but had its first clinic on the Wirral, says it was the first company to offer such treatment in the UK.
Owned by 3i it now has 31 clinics throughout UK and Ireland including Manchester, Liverpool and Chester.
Chief executive Tony Veverka, pictured, said: “Celebrating 20 years of changing peoples’ lives is a significant milestone for the company and having experienced firsthand the life changing benefits that freedom from glasses and contact lenses can bring, makes it all the more amazing.
