Sainsbury’s creates 31 jobs at new Oxford Road store

SUPERMARKET giant Sainsbury’s plans to create 31 new jobs at its new Local store a Oxford Road in Manchester.

The 1,8000 sq ft store will open on Wednesday. It will have its own in-store bakery and more than half of the new jobs have gone to clients of agency Remploy which has placed people who have struggled to find work elsewhere.
One of these, Mark Parry, has been taken on as the store’s baker after being unemployed for three years.

The 44-year-old from Rusholme said: “I had worked in a steel factory for 20 years, but damaged my back. As the job involved a lot of heavy lifting, I unfortunately had to give that up as if I’d carried on, my back would have got worse.

“I decided to retrain and pick up new skills, such as in IT, but I really struggled to find another job. as a baker at Sainsbury’s, I was delighted.”
