£80m Cottam Hall revamp moves closer

THE £80m revamp of Preston’s Cottam Hall Brickworks has moved a step closer following the submission of planning applications.

The plans were submitted by Manchester developer Cottam Hall Properties and Tesco to transform the derelict 28-acre site which could create 700 jobs

Cottam Hall Brickworks is one of Preston’s major regeneration projects and is a new generation of schemes in the UK that answers transport, leisure, business, residential, ecological and social issues in one redevelopment.

Ian Rankin, chairman of Cottam Hall Properties, said: “The driving force behind the masterplan was to provide a unique quality of life not found in other major schemes and this is something that shines through. Current planning standards indicate that if we are granted planning permission, we could be on-site within six months working on a project that will bring much needed employment.”

John Clarke, executive development officer at Tesco’s Manchester office added:  “Tesco is delighted to be part of this major regeneration initiative proposal and has been working with Cottam Hall Properties, the city council and stakeholders to help deliver a comprehensive and sustainable mixed use development opportunity.”
