Appointments: Santander role for Sean Burke and more…

SEAN Burke has been appointed to the new role of regional director – Education, Health and Communities with Santander.
The former Bank of Ireland corporate banking chief will lead the support for the three sectors through Santander’s regional corporate banking centres in Manchester, Liverpool Belfast, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, , Newcastle upon Tyne, Sheffield and Stockton on Tees.
He will report in to Jonathan Dyer, regional managing director, and will be recruiting a team of experienced sector specialists to ensure that the bank is able to offer a true relationship service to both private and public sector organisations in the regions.

COATINGS manufacturer, Leighs Paints has announced the appointment of Paul Clayton to the International Oil and Gas Business Advisory Board (IOGBAB).
Mr Clayton, currently marketing director for the Bolton-based company, was invited to join the board to reflect the views of small to medium sized companies within the industry.
The board, which is part of UK Trade & Investment, is working to secure the future of the UK’s oil and gas industry and supports the development of the UK Energy Excellence initiative into International markets.
Mr Clayton, said: “The IOGBAB has an influential role to play both in the UK and internationally and I feel privileged to be invited on to the board.”

CIVIL and structural engineering company, Sutcliffe, has appointed Sue Patterson as business development manager.
Ms Patterson has worked in the industry for 10 years and joins Sutcliffe from Ryder Architects, where she was project co-ordinator for the Liverpool office.
In her new role at Sutcliffe, she will be responsible for raising the profile of the company, maintaining relationships with existing clients, whilst generating new business contacts.
John Sutcliffe, managing director at Sutcliffe, said: “The role of business development manager is vital to any company, especially in the current economic climate, so we are extremely pleased to have been in a position to appoint Sue. With her experience and existing contacts, we are confident in her ability to generate new business and in doing so, help us to expand the business still further.”

BROOKSON, provider of accountancy, tax advice and other support services to contractors, has appointed Lee Kingshott as IT director and Matt Fryer as tax manager.
Mr Kingshott, 44, joins from Surecomp Business Solutions, having also held directorships with subsidiaries of the Royal Bank of Scotland and senior positions within Barclays Bank.
In his new role, he will oversee Brookson’s IT operations and will be reponsible for delivering excellence in customer service.
Mr Fryer, 31, will be responsible for ensuring that HMRC obligations are met and tax planning opportunities are maximised for Brookson customers.
He joins the company having previously held roles with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and KPMG.
