Motorhome business invests for growth

A PRESTON-based company that specialises in motorhome and caravan repairs has invested in two new courtesy vehicles for £60,000.

Motorhomes UK, which operates from a 10,000 sq ft base on The Old Mill Industrial Estate in Bamber Bridge, has bought the vehicles to increase the amount of work it can carry out on behalf of major insurance companies such as AXA, Royal Sun Alliance, Safeguard and Saga.

Andrew Degnen, managing director of Motorhomes UK, said: “The volume of accident repair work that we undertake on behalf of major insurers has increased significantly. An essential part of our service is to offer the insurer’s customers a replacement vehicle whilst their motorhome is off the road and therefore we need to ensure we have enough courtesy vehicles to meet this growing demand.

“We are also able to use the vehicles to expand the hire side of the business for people going on holiday.”

Set up in 2004 by Mr Degnen and Jeff Parker, the company repairs more than 1,000 motorhomes and caravans each year.

The funding to purchase the new motorhomes has been provided by The Royal Bank of Scotland via the Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme.

This Government backed scheme aims to ensure that small businesses have immediate access to working capital or investment finance.  Under the terms of the scheme the Government guarantees 75% of any loan made with the bank covering the remaining 25%.
