Ex-Nutrition Point chief launches consultancy firm

THE former chief executive of Warrington-based food group Nurtition Point has launched a new consultancy advising on nutritional and healthcare products.

Chris Hook, who sold his gluten-free food business to the Dr Schar Group in 2001 but remained as chief executive of the £30m-turnover company until the end of last year, has launched the Blue Fish consultancy business in Cheshire to advise food and drink brands on their growth strategies.

He said: “There are some outstanding specialist food companies around the North West – it’s one of the regional economy’s real niche strengths. But the challenges many of these companies face in achieving scale are daunting, given the size of the grocery retailing sector and the power of the major players.

“From securing manufacturing relationships and negotiating commercial partnerships, to building brands and setting up sales infrastructure, Blue Fish has significant experience helping businesses achieve their potential.

“We also have significant corporate experience – from raising finance to acquisitions – which we can bring to bear.”

Last week, Dr Schar announced that it had secured a nationwide listing for its gluten-free products in Co-ooperative stores.
