Pfeffer parts company with Pets at Home

JOHN Pfeffer, the American private equity boss who led the £995m buyout of Pets at Home last year, has left the company’s board.

Mr Pfeffer was European head of retail at US private equity group Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) when it acquired the Handforth-based chain from Bridgepoint Capital in January 2010.

A document filed at Companies House confirmed he had parted company with the business.

Mr Pfeffer, pictured, left KKR on Friday and his responsbilities will be taken on by BrianJohn Pfeffer Carroll head of the consumer team in Europe.

In a statement he told Bloomberg: “After a fruitful, fulfilling and fun 11 years at KKR, I have decided to return to my entrepreneurial roots and create and build my own businesses outside the firm.”

Mr Pfeffer joined KKR in 2000 and was also involved in its investment in Toys ‘R’ Us.
