Swimming pool firm goes under

MORE than 100 people working for a Lancashire swimming pool and sauna business have been laid off after orders dried up.

Administrators have now been called in to handle WM Taylor (Swimming Pools) and its subsidiary Koppen, which specialised in saunas and steam rooms.

The businesses employed 116 staff at premises in Much Hoole, near Preston, but all were laid off before administrators from the accountancy firm Grant Thornton were appointed.

The businesses have ceased trading and administrators are in talks with potential buyers over the disposal of assets.

Joint administrator Matt Dunham said: “The business fell into difficulties due to a downturn in demand and also significant cashflow problems.

“We are now in discussions with a number of interested parties regarding the sale of assets, which include a manufacturing facility, show room, maintenance equipment and stock.”

The two businesses installed swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms and spas for both commercial and residential use.
