Industrial firm Makin in administration

A £22m turnover manufacturer of bronze and copper alloy powder products has been placed into administration.
Rochdale-based Makin Metal Powders, a subsidiary of American company US Bronze Powders Inc, was placed into administration on July 31.
The 50-year-old company, based at a 100,000 sq ft factory on Buckley Road, employs 41 people.
Paul Flint, Allan Graham and Brian Green from KPMG in Manchester are handling the administration.
The business, which exports 70% of what it produces to Europe, is continuing to trade while a buyer is sought. No jobs have been lost.
MMP makes copper, copper alloy and tin powders which are used as raw materials for precision components used in a number of sectors including automotive, electronics, computing and industrial machinery.
A spokesman for KPMG said: “The administration was simply a result of the downturn.
“The company does a lot of work for the automotive industry, so they’ve been badly hit by a reduction in demand from that sector.”
