New bosses for region’s John Lewis stores

DEPARTMENT store group John Lewis has announced a senior management changes at its three North West sites.
The reshuffle has been prompted by Maggie Porteous’ permanent move to the retailer’s John Lewis At Home division. Until last summer she was managing director of the Cheadle and Trafford Centre stores, before leaving on an initial nine-month secondment.
Each store will now have its own managing director, with 31-year old Lucy Ramseyer promoted to the role at the Trafford Centre from general, manager.
Margaret Jacques, who has been running the Liverpool One store, and, in the interim Cheadle and Trafford, will now focus on the Cheadle operation – the largest and longest-established of the three.
David Barford, director of selling operations for John Lewis, says: “We’re always delighted when our partners take on new challenges and I’ve no doubt Lucy will excel in this role.
“Her years of retail experience and outstanding record of achievement make her ideally suited to take on the responsibility of leading and growing our business in Trafford.
“Our Cheadle shop is currently undergoing a £17.5m refurbishment. Lucy’s appointment enables Margaret to concentrate fully on the Cheadle refurbishment and the future development of the branch.”
Lucy Ramseyer adds: “I am absolutely delighted to be taking up the role of managing director, John Lewis Trafford. The de-twinning of the two shops is a fantastic opportunity for both branches to demonstrate their full potential.
“The Trafford Centre continues to grow as a significant attraction in the North West and I’m excited to be given the opportunity to lead the team here in ensuring we deliver an outstanding shopping experience to our customers every day.”
Meanwhile, Dan Cook will be taking over as MD of the Liverpool store from May 1. He is currently covering the role of operations manager selling (fashion) at Trafford.
