Job saves as failed office furniture firm is sold

AROUND 70 North West jobs  have been saved after the sale of a troubled office furniture company.

Dams International of Knowsley, Merseyside,  was placed into administration last week with the loss of 240 jobs – 180 of which were at its head office.

The company, which last year had a turnover of £42m before running into cashflow problems, has been sold to its former management.

Paul Flint, joint administrator and associate partner at KPMG Restructuring, said: “We are delighted to have been able to complete such a quick sale of Dams International, minimising disruption to both suppliers and customers.

“The management team were backed in this transaction by Venture Finance, who have been able to adopt a proactive approach in the current market place to facilitate this deal.”

Dams International was founded in Liverpool in 1967 by Barry Scott. Mr Scott retired in 2004 and handing the business to his eldest son Chris.
