AMS partner launches dressing product

WOUNDCARE specialist Advanced Medical Solutions has launched a new dressing product in its range that uses silver and seaweed, through distribution partner Systagenix.
Winsford-based AMS has developed a range of wound dressings that incorporate silver, a known anti-microbial agent for infection control, and calcium alginate technology, a natural wound dressing derived from seaweed.
The latest product in its range, Silvercel Non-Adherent, is a dressing with a perforated film on both sides of the existing Silvercel dressing, which is specifically designed for easy removal to minimise the trauma associated with dressing changes.
Dr Don Evans, chief executive of Advanced Medical Solutions, said: “The introduction of this latest product innovation is another key milestone for AMS in exploiting the dynamic silver alginate market and launching novel woundcare products with major global players.”
The new product has recently been launched in the US by the group’s marketing and distribution partner Systagenix Wound Management, with introduction into Europe and other international markets expected this month.
Dr Evans added: “With their strong global presence and commitment to inventive products for chronic and acute wound management, Systagenix is an ideal partner for the marketing and distribution of our fibre-based silver alginate technology.
The global silver alginate market is estimated at around $350m, with growth at 15% a year.
