Henry Boot wins approval for Manchester Courthouse scheme

HENRY Boot Developments, one of the UK’s major property development companies, has gained planning approval for its redevelopment of the former County Courts building on Deansgate in Manchester City Centre.
The Grade II-listed building will be converted into 13,500 sq ft of Grade A office space and more than 14,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space.
The development will be known as The Courthouse.
Adam Brady, head of Henry Boot Developments’ Manchester office, said: “We are delighted that the planning application for this unique restoration and refurbishment project has been approved. We have taken our time in developing the vision for The Courthouse and it is clear that the hard work has paid off.
“Built over 100 years ago, we are determined to maintain as many of the original features of the old building as possible, while providing occupiers with modern, high quality space for their business.”
He added that the scheme was “perfectly located” on the busy Deansgate thoroughfare at the entrance to Allied London’s Spinningields scheme.
“The Courthouse will offer all the benefits of the city’s newest business district, while enjoying the surroundings of a characterful listed building,” he said.
Matthews & Goodman and DTZ have been appointed to handle the office element of the scheme, while Cheetham & Mortimer and DMR Richtrend have been instructed to let the leisure and retail units.
