Pets at Home exec leaves board

A SENIOR member of Pets at Home’s management team has stepped down from the board.

Development director John Farrell has been with the Cheshire-based group since 1993 when it had just one shop in Chester.

He has helped oversee its expansion to a chain of more than 230 stores over the past 16 years. A spokesman for the firm confirmed Mr Farrell was no longer on the board of directors but remained a member of the management team.

He said the change was not related to preparation for a stock market flotation, a move the company is understood to be considering.

The £400m turnover business, based in Handforth, was established in 1991 by Anthony Preston who still sits on the board as a non-executive director. It employs 2,773 people at stores throughout the country.
