Pure Gym in shape for launch

A LEISURE entrepreneur has launched a no-frills gym for fitness fanatics on a budget.

Peter Roberts is opening the doors to Pure Gym on Hardman Street in Manchester this month, offering memberships for £15.99 per month with no contract required.

Members have 24-hour access to a 15,000 sq ft air-conditioned gym fitted out with more than 170 pieces of cardiovascular and fitness equipment.

Pre-booked induction courses start on November 16 before the gym officially opens on November 23.

Mr Roberts, a former director of Luminar Leisure and Dragons Health Clubs, is looking to expand the operation with plans to have 20 sites up and running by 2012.

He says: “The no frills Pure Gym concept is perfect for these recessionary times and members are delighted they don’t have to commit to expensive annual subscriptions or contracts and pay for facilities they don’t want,” said Mr Roberts.

Pure has sites in Leeds, Wolverhampton and Edinburgh.
