Duo open fourth Pandora store

RETAIL investors David Shone and Chris Burrow have opened a fourth Pandora jewellery franchise in the region.

The latest location for the duo, who manage their stores through a joint venture company called DC Franchise LLP, is the Houndshill shopping centre in Blackpool.

NatWest commercial banking has backed the business, which was only launched last year by match-funding each shop.

DC’s first Pandora franchise opened in Liverpool last year, followed by two Manchester shops at the Trafford and Arndale shopping centres.

Mr Shone, who already owns Emson Haig, an Essex-based jewellery business said: “We have found the franchise model to be really good for us. Pandora is a good retail brand and has proven to be very successful.

“Last year saw us open three outlets in the North West and with the level of sales we have seen, we are hopeful of extending this number in 2011.

“Blackpool is another exciting venture for us and we are hopeful that it will repeat the success of the other three stores.”

Pandora is a Danish-based jewellery designer and manufacturer, which has a presence in more than 50 countries worldwide. It specialises in charm bracelets.

Adrian Wood, relationship director at NatWest commercial banking, said:  “Franchising is a really good model for business entrepreneurs.

“Already successful in their own businesses, David and Chris have bought together their knowledge to buy into a successful business proposition with the Pandora chain.”
