Sci-Tech Daresbury’s new labs and offices launched

Techspace One launch event at Sci-Tech Daresbury

Sci-Tech Daresbury’s latest state-of-the-art facility has been officially launched at a breakfast event to showcase its high specification capabilities.

Guests from science and tech companies from across the region mingled with commercial office agents and campus partners and tenants at Techspace One, a three-storey, multi-let building comprising 46,000 q ft of high quality wet and instrumentation laboratories, grade A office accommodation, meeting hubs and break out areas.

They were treated to a bespoke breakfast menu, virtual reality, 3D printing, infra-red camera and mad science demonstrations and given the opportunity for a spin in Tesla’s Model X & S cars with a professional driver before being entered into a draw to win the chance to drive one of the electric super cars.

Techspace One has been developed for companies from sectors such as biomedical, materials, process technology and clean technology.

Tenants benefit from access to fume extraction, provision of liquid waste disposal facility and materials/gas bottle storage areas, on-site supply of nitrogen, compressed air and natural gas, and ground floor labs with external door access.

The building also includes high-speed internet connectivity and will provide accommodation of between 900 and 2,400 sq ft units.

Techspace One completes the latest development at Sci-Tech Daresbury following its sister building, Techspace Two, which opened in Autumn 2016.

The Enterprise Zone status of both buildings means companies that move into them before the March 31 2018 will be eligible for five years’ business rates relief.

Malcolm Jackson, group finance director of Langtree and board director of the Sci-Tech Daresbury joint venture company, said: “Opening a new building is always an interesting and exciting time, especially here at Sci-Tech Daresbury where so much cutting edge development and research is carried out.

“The new building is attracting significant interest, following a year when a record number of 34 companies located or relocated here, drawn not only by world leading facilities and an international reputation, but also to a renowned spirit of collaboration and the success of many of our 114 companies in commercialising their innovation.”

Sci-Tech Daresbury is a private-public joint-venture partnership between developer Langtree, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and Halton Borough Council.
