Duo move up Lake District property ladder

Link House

Peter Habberjam and Catherine Williams are trading up to a larger Lake District guest house following their acquisition of Link House near Keswick.

In a deal brokered by the specialist hotels team at real estate advisors Colliers International, the Victorian property in Dubwath, Bassenthwaite Lake, Cockermouth, with eight letting bedrooms and two-bedroom owners’ accommodation was acquired from an asking price of £625,000 from owner Rowan Atkins.

Atkins has owned the property since 2010 and has undertaken widespread refurbishment, but is retiring to live closer to his family.

Habberjam and Williamse relocated to Bassenthwaite from Callander near Stirling in Scotland where they operated a smaller guest house.

Haydn Spedding, associate director, hotels agency at the Manchester office of Colliers International, secured the deal and said: “Peter and Catherine are experienced guest house owners bringing a wealth of experience from their previous business.

“The sale of Link House is further evidence of improving market conditions in the hospitality sector in the Lake District National Park since the beginning of the year with Colliers International having achieved sales of a number of prominent and well-known guest houses.”
