Time to get in training for Halloween event

Manchester’s Heaton Park is set to host a spooky event this Halloween.

Taking place on Sunday, October 29, the Halloween Fun Run is inviting locals along to the 5km running event, which will be suitable for runners of all ages and abilities, and are encouraging those taking part to dress up as ghosts, ghouls and everything spooky.

The event is in collaboration with Dreams Come True, a national children’s charity which aims to make dreams come true for children with serious and life-limiting conditions.

Martin Neal, head of events for Dreams Come True said “We have a long standing relationship with Sports Tours International and to be heavily involved with the local community is a Dream for us too.

“If we raise as much money as possible, we are then in a position to help a number of children and young adults in the Manchester region and bring joy and happiness fulfilling their treasured dreams.”

Heaton Park is one of Manchester’s most iconic open spaces, covering 600 acres and incorporates the grade one listed 18th century Heaton Hall which will act as the backdrop for the fun run.

The route itself will start and finish in the ‘Ghastly Ghost Town’ with a number of activities and attractions planned as well as out on the route itself with a number of surprises in store for the participants.

Graham Jackson, race rirector for Sports Tours International said “We are delighted to be delivering Dreams Come True’s first ever event in the North West and to be able to deliver a short distance fun run that’s suitable for all ages and ability levels is ideal.

“Dreams Come True is an extremely hard working charity who we have worked with for a number of years already, helping their fundraisers to participate in some of the worlds biggest and best marathon events.

“This new Halloween Fun Run at Heaton Park gives them the perfect platform in the North West to extend their reach and awareness”.

For all finishers of the Dreams Come True Halloween Fun Run, a very special glow in the dark medal will be their award.
