A 232 apartment build-to-rent scheme on Ellesmere Street in Castlefield has reached its highest point of construction and is on schedule for completion next summer.

The prominent site on Chester Road is being delivered by developer Glenbrook Property in partnership with Moorfield Group which forward funded the scheme in a £40m deal last year.

The partners met with Graham Construction on the 12th floor of the third building to mark the occasion.

Designed by AEW Architects, the scheme will offer over 220,000sq ft of rental accommodation across three buildings. The project team also included Shepherd Gilmore Infrastructure, Abacus and Deloittes.

The development has been purpose designed for the rental market and includes enhanced common areas and a co-working space overlooking a private internal residents’ garden. Concierge facilities, residents’ gym and a large secure cycle hub will complement the offer.

Stuart McCrone projects director at Glenbrook, said: “We are delivering an impressive environment here at Ellesmere Street.

“The scheme occupies a strategic position immediately adjacent to Cornbrook Metrolink station and between MediaCityUK and Manchester city centre. Its excellent connectivity, coupled with the amenities and standard of accommodation, means we are confident this will appeal to renters looking for a home in the city centre.”

Gary Hughes, Graham Construction regional director, said: “This scheme provides high-quality accommodation for the area and the topping out ceremony marks a major milestone in the development of not only this project, but the wider Castlefield community.

“Manchester’s residential sector is thriving and we’re excited to continue working with Glenbrook on further PRS developments such as Erie Basin in Salford Quays.”
