Manchester-based McGoff Construction has secured an £8m fit-out contract, as part of a new £20m attraction, with family entertainment giant Merlin Entertainments.

Located within Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC), The Bear Grylls Adventure will open in 2018 targeting the adventure-based experiences market with a high ropes course, indoor skydiving (iFLY), climbing wall and assault course.

The 86,000sq ft park also features a themed shop and café.

The latest contract win for McGoff follows the completion of two successful builds for Merlin – the £10m Castle Hotel at Legoland Windsor and The £9m CBeeBies Land Hotel at Alton Towers, both of which handed over earlier this year.

Group commercial director Dave McGoff said: “We are thrilled to be working with our valued client; Merlin Entertainments to deliver this unique and exciting new attraction at the NEC.

“The Bear Grylls Adventure is the first of its kind in the world so to be involved in such a landmark scheme really is fantastic.”

With enabling works now complete, the main project has now commenced and is scheduled for completion late 2018.
