Chunk of land with permission for 1,800 homes up for grabs

North Leigh Park

An under-administration company has appointed CBRE’s development team to sell a 178-acre site near Wigan which has outline planning consent in place for the delivery of 1,800 new homes.

The North Leigh site south east of Wigan is surrounded by existing residential property and is currently owned by North Leigh Park Group Ltd and bordered by two major roads, the A577 to the north and the A578 to the west with Westleigh High School nearby.

Outline consent has been obtained for the delivery of a comprehensive high quality mixed-use development comprising residential development and employment use and around 44 acres of strategic green infrastructure.

The new development will mainly take the form of residential dwellings capable of supporting a new community with access to all of the immediate facilities offered by Leigh, Hindley Green, Atherleigh and Wigan.

The indicative masterplan provides for a mix of apartments, terraced, semi-detached and detached housing to meet with local demand and affordability.

Steven Verity, senior director of UK Development team at CBRE Manchester, said: “This is undoubtedly one of the most extensive and exciting sites to hit the North West market.

“It presents a strong opportunity for a developer to deliver a new sustainable community and through the creation of new homes and employment space, make a substantial contribution to the Borough’s housing needs and wider economic and regeneration aspirations.

“We anticipate a high level of interest in this strategic site and look forward to speaking to interested parties.”
