New virtual reality experience opens for business in Preston

A new attraction which includes the country’s first free-roaming virtual reality experience has opened for business.
Brian Rollo, the mayor of Preston, cut the ribbon to officially open the new £500,000 Ninja Adventure Preston.
Hundreds of customers have already visited the 20,000 sq ft attraction to test their skills on four ninja courses aimed at varying levels of ability, with some taking on the challenge of scaling the near-vertical ‘run-up walls’.
The centre boasts the UK’s first free-roaming VR experience where visitors can take on a variety of immersive multiplayer games with friends.
The wireless VR system is part of Multiverse, Ninja Adventure’s huge virtual reality arcade containing three zones each featuring different gaming experiences.
Ninja Adventure also has a high-ropes section where people clip on a safety harness and test their balance and head for heights across a multi-level course.
Samir Patel, the director of Ninja Adventure, said: “After months of hard work, it’s fantastic to be open and seeing people enjoying the activities.
“Our courses are aimed at people who’ve watched the Ninja Warrior TV show and thought ‘I could do better than that’.
“But there’s so much more inside to try out with a high ropes course, a large-scale snooker experience, plus hundreds of ground-breaking VR games.
“Our cafe overlooks the main arena, offering parents somewhere to relax and enjoy a range of hot and cold refreshments while watching the action on the courses below.
Councillor Rollo said: “This is a wonderful addition to Preston, increasing the options for people of all ages who want to get active and have fun with friends. I wish the centre every success.”
Located off Mercer Street near Preston city centre, the venue’s courses are suitable for ages four and upwards, with sessions available to book online or at the venue, priced £10 per person, per course.
