Quantity surveyor signs five-year deal at docks

No. 8 Princes Dock

Quantity surveying and project management company Walker Sime has signed a five-year at the Liverpool Waters development.

The firm has taken a lease for 3,500 sq ft of office space at No. 8 Princes Dock.

The consultancy firm, which also has offices in Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow, will be moving from its current Liverpool address at Cotton Exchange on Bixteth Street.

Walker Sime has signed a five-year lease on the first floor of No 8, the recently modernised Grade A office space.

The building has under gone a refurbishment and now includes a remodelled double height entrance and contemporary reception area.

Walker Sime’s move to the Liverpool Waters address is a significant one for the consultancy firm due to its longstanding relationship with Peel Land and Property (Ports) Limited, which manages the Liverpool Waters project.

As cost consultants and project managers for the project, Walker Sime has been tasked with ensuring the redevelopment of over 160 acres of Liverpool’s waterfront is delivered on time and on budget.

This year is set to be the busiest yet for the £5 billion regeneration project, which recently broke ground on the £21 million residential building Plaza 1821 and announced plans for a brand-new heritage trial visitor centre at Collingwood Dock.

Derek Walker, director at Walker Sime, said: “The Liverpool Waters project is an incredibly exciting one and working with Peel as closely as we have been is a fantastic experience.

“It therefore makes sense that we would want to make our mark on the area and take on this lease. We’re proud to say that we’ve had a role in the many changes happening on Liverpool’s Waterfront, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the next stages of the project will look.”

Liza Marco, asset manager at Liverpool Waters, said: “We’re delighted that Walker Sime has made the decision to relocate their Liverpool office to Princes Dock, enabling them to work from the scheme they are project managing on daily basis.

“With neighbours including KPMG and property consultants Savills, they will be in good company among some of the most established and successful firms not only in the North West, but the UK.”
