Plans approved for 241 homes in Swinton

Bellway Homes’ plans for a new residential development on land at Campbell Road in Swinton have been given the go-ahead by Salford City Council’s planning committee
Manchester based HOW Planning submitted a full planning application for 241 new homes and a community park in excess of 49.5 acres, which secured resolution to grant planning approval at Salford Council’s committee on May 10.
The new scheme will be built on the former Swinton waste water treatment works, which was decommissioned more than 25 years ago and has since sat as a vacant brownfield site.
The approved development provides a combination of three and four bedroomed new homes, including 52 affordable dwellings to help meet local needs.
Plans also include comprehensive infrastructure improvements as well as extensive public green space and community park to the south of the site.
James Berggren, senior llanner at HOW Planning, said: “It’s been great working with Bellway Homes on a scheme that will significantly contribute towards Salford’s local housing needs and will transform a vacant site within Swinton into an attractive residential development, with the added benefit of creating a substantial new community park that will be used by both the immediate and wider community.”
The site is well placed to conveniently access services and shops on Monton Road, located one mile to the south, and other facilities in both Swinton and Eccles town centres to the North and South respectively.
